Chairman of the Export Council for Ready-Made Garments, Fadel Marzouk, announced that Egypt’s garment export sector achieved $2.043 billion from January to September this year, marking an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
In a press statement today, Marzouk provided insights into the top export markets for Egyptian garments. The United States led with $871 million, capturing 43% of total garment exports, followed by the European Union with $482 million, and Arab countries ranking third with a total of $367 million. The exports to Arab nations grew by 21% compared to the same period last year.
Marzouk emphasized that the Destination Africa event underscores Egypt’s pivotal role as a central hub in Africa for supplying a broad range of products across the garment sector, including ready-made clothing, fibers, yarns, and accessories.
He noted that Egypt’s strategic textile industry is bolstered by a long-standing history and a strong reputation, largely due to the superior quality of Egyptian cotton, renowned globally for its excellence over the years.
