Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed that trade exchange between Egypt and Malaysia reached $574 million in the first nine months of 2024, compared to $626 million during the same period in 2023.

Egyptian exports to Malaysia totaled $68 million during this period, down from $76 million in 2023, while imports from Malaysia were valued at $506 million, slightly decreasing from $550 million in the previous year.

Malaysian investments in Egypt grew significantly, reaching $24 million in the 2022/2023 fiscal year compared to $5.1 million in 2021/2022. Egyptian investments in Malaysia also increased, rising to $198.9 million in the 2022/2023 fiscal year from $180.6 million the previous year.

Remittances from Egyptians working in Malaysia amounted to $6.6 million in the 2022/2023 fiscal year, down from $9.6 million in 2021/2022. Remittances sent by Malaysians working in Egypt were recorded at $2.3 million in 2022/2023, slightly less than $2.4 million in the previous year.

Among Egypt's main exports to Malaysia in the first three quarters of 2024 were vegetables and fruits, amounting to $30 million; ground natural calcium phosphate, valued at $17 million; aluminum and aluminum products worth $7 million; and plastics and plastic goods, valued at $3 million.

On the other hand, the primary imports Egypt received from Malaysia included vegetable and animal oils and fats worth $321 million, followed by electrical and mechanical equipment and parts at $40 million, rubber products valued at $37 million, organic chemicals worth $20 million, and cocoa products totaling $16 million.
