Egypt's President Directs Efforts to Boost Agricultural Production and Food Security

President Sisi convened with top advisors today to review Egypt's agricultural expansion initiatives.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi convened today with Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning, and Colonel Dr. Bahaa El Ghannam, CEO of Egypt's Future Agency for Sustainable Development.

The presidential spokesperson stated that during the meeting, the President reviewed the progress of the Future of Egypt project in the New Delta, aimed at providing high-quality agricultural products at affordable prices for citizens and exporting surplus abroad.

President Sisi was briefed on the progress of various related sub-projects, including the agricultural greenhouses project in the Lahoun area of Fayoum Governorate, the land reclamation projects in Minya and Beni Suef, the Sonbol Sonu project in Aswan, the Dakhla region project in southern Egypt, and the industrial and logistics zone in the Dabaa axis of the New Delta.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms to support these projects, including efforts to provide water for irrigation, establish silos for storing grains, and increase the utilization of modern technology in land reclamation, irrigation systems, and agricultural mechanization.

President Sisi directed the provision of all project needs as part of the state's plan to expand the agricultural land area, increase agricultural production, which is a fundamental pillar of the Egyptian economy, and achieve a breakthrough to ensure the state's ability to protect the food security of the Egyptian people and increase agricultural exports, supporting efforts to increase national income.
