Egypt’s chemical and fertilizer industries’ exports continue to see positive growth, climbing 33% in the first 5 months of 2022 to hit $3.5 billion from $2.6 billion in the first 5 months of 2021.
According to data from the General Organization for Export and Import Control stated that the sector accounted for 22% of total Egyptian exports, followed by building materials at 20%.

The top export from the sector were fertilizers, which grew by 51% to an estimated export value of $1.16 billion during 2022’s first 5 months, compared to $768 million in the same period in 2021.
Following fertilizers were exports of plastic which recorded $1.09 billion in export value, compared to $970 million during last year’s first 5 months at a 12% increase.

Inorganic chemicals saw a significant leap in export volume and value, surging by 144% to hit $550.2 million, up from $225.3 million.
