Egypt's wheat imports were among the most important Egyptian imports of raw materials, which rose slightly in H1 of 2024, reaching about $5.6 billion, compared to $5.2 billion in the same period last year 2023, an increase of about $397.1 million.
The volume of Egypt’s strategic reserve of wheat reached 6.3 months, sugar 13 months, oil sufficient for 6.2 months, frozen and live meat contracts sufficient for 10 months, and poultry contracts sufficient for 10 months, Elgrahy added.

This comes as part of Egypt's commitment to supporting farmers and alleviating their burdens, to stimulate agricultural production and investment.
Out of this quantity, approximately 5 million tons were allocated for government purposes, while the remainder was intended for the private sector.
