Egypt's wheat imports increase to $2 billion in H1 of 2024 | CAPMAS

Egypt's wheat imports were among the most important Egyptian imports of raw materials, which rose slightly in H1 of 2024, reaching about $5.6 billion, compared to $5.2 billion in the same period last year 2023, an increase of about $397.1 million.

The total volume of Egypt's wheat imports increased to $2.3 billion during the first half (H1) of 2024, compared to $1.7 billion in H1 of 2023, an increase of $539.3 million, according to the latest data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Egypt's wheat imports were among the most important Egyptian imports of raw materials, which rose slightly in H1 of 2024, reaching about $5.6 billion, compared to $5.2 billion in the same period last year 2023, an increase of about $397.1 million.

In June, wheat imports were among the list of goods, which declined, recording $261 million last June, compared to $332 million in the same month in 2023, a decline of 21.5%.

Earlier in September, CAPMAS reported the value of the trade deficit reached $2.87 billion in June 2024, compared to $3.02 billion for the same month of 2023, a decrease of 5.1%.

According to CAPMAS, the value of exports decreased by 1.6%, reaching $3.13 billion during June 2024, compared to $3.18 billion for the same month of 2023.

The value of imports decreased by 3.3%, reaching $6.0 billion during June 2024, compared to $6.21 billion for the same month of the previous year.
