Engineering exports also went up by 15 percent in the first nine months of fiscal year 2020/21
Exports of engineering goods and products have climbed 30 percent in Q1 2021, says Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE), noting that exports recorded $739 million compared to $567.3 million in Q1 of 2020.
In March, the council announced that engineering exports went up by 9.8 percent, recording at $1.801 billion during the first eight months of the fiscal year 2020/2021.
According to the latest report, Egypt’s engineering exports saw an increase of 65 percent in March 2021 compared March 2020, with exports recording at $274 million this month compared to $165 million in March 2020.
Engineering exports also went up by 15 percent in the first nine months of fiscal year 2020/21, recording at $2.07 billion compared to $1.80 billion in the same period of FY 2019/20.
Products with the most increases were transportation components by 46 percent, tableware and kitchen products by 45 percent, household appliances by 35.4 percent, cables by 29 percent, automotive components by 26 percent, electrical and electronic products by 16 percent.
Some importers of Egypt’s engineering exports were the United Kingdom, Turkey, France, Germany, Spain, and Greece.
The engineering and electronic goods sector is the fourth top exporting sector during Q1 2021, said Ismail Gaber, head of the General Authority for Export and Import Control (GOIEC) earlier this month.
Dominating the sectors of Q1 2021 were chemical and fertilizer products which was valued at $1.53 billion.
