Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malta to cooperate across electricity, energy supply diversification and security, research and innovation in energy, and energy efficiency in the public and private sectors.

The signing ceremony was in the presence of Egyptian minister of electricity and renewable energy, Mohamed Shaker, and the Maltese Minister for the Environment.
The two ministers emphasized the significance of the MoU in delving into the possibilities of renewable energy systems and emerging technologies in both countries.
They also highlighted its role in fostering research and innovation in the electricity and energy sectors, while aiding the public and private sectors in executing energy efficiency initiatives and measures.
During the visit, Shaker met with a delegation of businessmen from Malta to discuss investment opportunities in green hydrogen and renewable energies projects.
