Driven by a passion for creating impactful experiences and enhancing lives within the communities under her protection, Vice President of Community at Madinet Masr, Nihad Soussa, finds purpose and fulfillment in her work while emphasizing the transformative power of love and the significance of resilience for young women forging their careers.

Highlighting the importance of strategic sacrifices for sustained growth and achievement, Nihad prioritizes acceptance as a driving force for peace and clarity.

How would you describe your role within the company?

Nihad Soussa - VP of Community at Madinet Masr

As the Vice President of Community at Madinet Masr, in a nutshell, my role is to nurture, protect, and develop our communities with a steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of life within our communities.

Our division includes community/resident relationship management, facility management - aka maintenance - security, and health and safety. We ensure that the needs of our residents are met while preserving the project and constantly enhancing it.

What energizes you the most at work?

Witnessing the transformation in Madinet Masr, within our communities, and our client's perception of us immensely energizes me, in addition to fostering positive change and creating impactful experiences. For me, addressing pressing challenges and implementing innovative solutions is incredibly motivating. And of course, receiving any positive feedback from our residents makes my day and is what makes it all worth it.

What is your passion in life in general?

My passion in life is something that many people have advised me against; it is my work. Work is where I find true purpose and fulfillment; it resonates with me as the true meaning of life.

Do you have any "life hacks" that you can share with us? Something that helps you maximize your time and balance your personal and professional life?

It took time for me to realize that it’s okay if you can’t always balance things and that it's mainly about making deliberate choices. Prioritizing what I want to thrive in eases the constant guilt of not giving everything equal attention. Accepting this truth brought clarity and peace.

As VP of Community, how do you advocate for women’s empowerment within the company’s projects? What about within the company, whether for your team or across departments?

At Madinet Masr, I highly believe that there is no need for additional support or advocacy for women because I honestly see no disparity in treatment or recognition based on gender; rather, I advocate for equality and mutual respect among all individuals.

Who are the women that inspired you the most?

I cannot say that I was fully inspired by one female role model. I've drawn motivation from experiences that urged me to carve out my unique journey.

However, what truly moves me is witnessing the support and solidarity among women, that is what is truly inspiring.

Considering your success, what sacrifices have you made along the way?

In the pursuit of success, it's imperative to acknowledge that sacrifices are an inherent part of the journey. Each sacrifice I've made has been a carefully considered decision, strategically aligned with my overarching long-term objectives.

While these sacrifices may have required temporary trade-offs or adjustments, they have served as instrumental stepping stones in my personal and professional development. By prioritizing my goals and making thoughtful sacrifices along the way, I've been able to navigate challenges effectively and position myself for sustained growth and achievement.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

"Love has the power to solve everything”- and this principle extends to the realm of work as well.

And what advice would you give to young women forging their own careers?

Life is tough, work is tough, yet, resilience is paramount; with each setback, your resilience grows, making you increasingly impervious to being easily overcome.  And finally, don’t forget to enjoy the little things along the way, because they are where true success and happiness lie.
