Egypt’s startup community has enthusiastically welcomed Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly's announcement of a new ministerial group focused on entrepreneurship. The initiative, aimed at strengthening startups and enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem, aligns with the government’s strategy to drive sustainable, knowledge-based economic growth and generate quality jobs.
Startup representatives and investors praised the establishment of this dedicated body, seeing it as a crucial step toward improving coordination across government initiatives supporting entrepreneurs. Many in the sector had advocated for such a group to unify and streamline efforts, allowing state-led programs and resources to be more accessible and impactful for emerging businesses.
The group, led by the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, includes high-level officials from multiple ministries, such as Communications, Higher Education, Finance, and Investment, along with representatives from the Central Bank and the Financial Regulatory Authority. This diverse membership reflects the government’s commitment to fostering a competitive and collaborative environment for startups within its 2024-2027 action plan. The initiative signifies a strategic shift towards prioritizing entrepreneurship as a key driver for Egypt’s economic transformation.
