Vodafone Business and Ain Shams University Hospitals held a roundtable to review their ongoing efforts to digitize Egypt’s healthcare sector and enhance the quality of medical services. The event welcomed a diverse group of prominent figures in academia, healthcare, and information technology.
Distinguished attendees included Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ali El Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the board of Directors of University Hospitals, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Eng. The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Tarek Youssef followed by a series of presentations on various aspects of digital transformation in the healthcare sector. In his remarks, Eng. Mahmoud El-Khateeb emphasized Vodafone Business's pivotal role in advancing digitization across Egypt's healthcare landscape. “Digital transformation is a core element in enhancing service quality and streamlining hospital operations” El-Khateeb highlighted. “We collaborated with Ain Shams University, El-Delta Electronic Systems Company, and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals to digitize 13 university hospitals within Ain Shams University.
This accomplishment has significantly improved healthcare professionals' access to patient data and has enhanced diagnostic accuracy through AI-driven insights. The digital transition aims to serve 1 million people annually resulting in financial savings exceeding 50 million EGP so far, thus improving the efficiency of medical services in Ain Shams University Hospitals.
El-Khateeb also highlighted Vodafone’s innovative solutions, including telemedicine services that enable continuous patient monitoring and instant alerts in emergency cases, ensuring top-tier care that aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030. He further highlighted Vodafone Business Digital Health Academy’s role in training over 25,000 healthcare professionals to use cutting-edge digital systems, which underscores Vodafone's commitment to strengthening the digital healthcare infrastructure.
El-Khateeb added “Vodafone Business is dedicated to developing strategic partnerships with academic institutions to advance healthcare standards. Our collaboration with Ain Shams University reflects a shared vision for a comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation to benefit Egyptian society in the best way possible.”
