Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Bedawi, witnessed the signing of four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements between the petroleum sector and global companies, on the sidelines of the Mediterranean Offshore Conference (MOC).

These agreements aim to enhance collaboration in operational safety, energy efficiency, carbon reduction, natural gas and hydrogen transport, and carbon capture, transport, and storage, along with sustainable energy and leadership training in health, safety, and environment (HSE).

The agreement between the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Greece’s DESFA focuses on studying carbon capture and storage technologies. The agreement was signed by Yousri Mohamed Ahmed, Executive Managing Director of EGAS, and Maria Rita, CEO of DESFA.

The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) and DESFA signed a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation in natural gas and hydrogen transport, carbon capture, and sustainable energy storage between Egypt and Greece.

The MoU also covers knowledge exchange in gas, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide infrastructure, as well as joint investment opportunities, strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub.

Another MoU was signed between GASCO and the US-based BakerRisk to foster cooperation in operational safety, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction. The partnership will involve knowledge sharing in these fields, as well as developing advanced software for safety, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction.

The final MoU was signed between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Shell, aimed at training and developing leadership in health, safety, and environment (HSE) for EGPC-affiliated companies.

The training will be conducted in collaboration with Shell Egypt, leveraging Shell’s global expertise and leadership in HSE management acquired from decades of global project experience.
