The UAE company Fertiglobe intends to export green ammonia from Egypt to Europe in early 2027, according to a company official who spoke to Asharq Bloomberg.

Fertiglobe, a strategic partnership between the ADNOC Group, and OCI Global won a contract to supply green ammonia from Egypt to the European Union worth €397 million, at a rate of €1,000 per ton until 2033, according to Company statement.

This deal will take place on the condition of completing the investment agreement between the partners in Egypt’s green hydrogen project.

This project will secure the hydrogen supplies necessary for ammonia production.

Two years ago, Fertiglobe, Scatec ASA, Orascom Construction, and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt signed an agreement to establish the first integrated green hydrogen production plant on Africa, under the name of Egypt’s green hydrogen factory, on the sidelines of the COP 27.

The official explained that Fertiglobe, at its factory on the coast of the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea, will produce green ammonia from green hydrogen, which will be produced in Egypt’s green hydrogen factory.

He added that the company intend to produce up to 74 thousand tons of green ammonia, and there is the ability to increase production according to the size of the demand.
