Egypt collaborates with Norway to implement green hydrogen production project

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with Norwegian Ambassador to Cairo, Hilde Klemetsdal, to discuss the latest updates on implementing the green hydrogen production project and ways to enhance cooperation in energy transition and green energy projects.

During the meeting, Minister Badawi acknowledged the exceptional expertise of Norwegian companies in energy transition technologies, green hydrogen, and carbon reduction.

 He emphasized the support provided by the petroleum sector in implementing green projects, leveraging the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Norway and the vast opportunities for mutual success and benefits.

The Minister stressed the need to tackle current challenges comprehensively, aiming to increase production, bridge the gap, and transition towards a green economy. These efforts are expected to attract investments and provide resources for value-added industries.

Badawi highlighted the petroleum sector's commitment to implementing the Egyptian government's direction towards green economy projects. This includes ongoing projects and initiatives to improve energy consumption efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

The Norwegian Ambassador acknowledged Egypt's capabilities in this field and praised the significant expertise provided by Scatec Company.
