The Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al Mashat met with the Vice President of the NDB, Vladimir Kazbekov, to explore ways to deepen joint work with the bank in various priority areas, in line with Egypt’s joining the BRICS bloc.

This marks the Vice President’s and his accompanying delegation in the first high-level official visit to Egypt.

During the meeting, they discussed promoting Egypt’s green transition strategy, Egypt’s efforts to increase investment in human capital, and implement green development projects, as well as the national platform Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy Program (NWFE) program.

Al Mashat shared with Vice President Kazbekov the Ministry's 2023 annual report which encompassed a comprehensive overview of the projects executed over the preceding four years, totaling to $38.8 billion. This includes, $28.5 billion allocated to diverse sectors within the state and $10.3 billion directed towards the private sector.

As 2024 rolls in, Egypt officially joins the BRICS bloc, bringing in a new chapter marked by economic promise alongside Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others, and is expected to open up new horizons of global influence and investment opportunities.

It is worth noting that the BRICS founding members are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Egypt’s membership in the BRICS economic bloc was officially activated in January 2024.
