In a historic move spotlighted by Bloomberg, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Cairo marks the first of its kind in over a decade, signifying a breakthrough as the two nations overcome years of tension.
Bloomberg delved into the talks between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart, addressing regional conflicts and aid provision to Palestinians in Gaza. The network noted Erdogan's aim to bolster cooperation in the energy-rich Eastern Mediterranean region.
The American network highlighted the thawing of "diplomatic ice" between Egypt and Turkey as part of broader efforts by Turkey to normalize relations across the Middle East, particularly as it seeks investment from countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this month, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan revealed that the two countries also have an agreement for Ankara to supply Cairo with drones.
During a joint press conference held at the Presidential Palace in Cairo, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed his anticipation to fulfill the desire of his Turkish counterpart, Erdogan, to visit Turkey in April. Erdogan, on the other hand, expressed his happiness with his visit to Egypt after 12 years, thanking President Sisi for his hospitality.
