Ambassador Ashraf El-Deeb, the Egyptian Consul General in Dubai, has emphasized the pivotal role of political engagement, urging both resident and non-resident citizens in the UAE to actively participate in the upcoming presidential elections. In a press interview on Friday, El-Deeb underscored the historical significance of this crucial event, encouraging the Egyptian community in Dubai to exercise their constitutional rights and national duties.

Anticipating the largest possible turnout, El-Deeb highlighted the consulate's measures to facilitate the voting process, particularly for seniors and individuals with disabilities, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience. He expressed the community's eagerness to participate, with voting commencing from the early hours as polling stations opened.

The National Election Authority has issued addresses for polling stations abroad and outlined voting procedures for Egyptians residing outside the country. To validate their votes, voters must present personal identification to the election committee, either in the form of a valid national ID card or a passport containing a valid national number.

Clarifying the voting requirements, the National Election Authority specified that a valid national ID card is not mandatory for Egyptians voting in the presidential elections abroad. It is only necessary if choosing to use a passport, which must remain valid at the time of voting.

According to election laws, individuals who vote at a polling station abroad but are present in Egypt during the 2024 presidential elections are prohibited from casting their votes more than once, whether domestically or abroad.

The voting process for Egyptian expatriates in the 2024 presidential elections commenced on Friday, spanning three days until Sunday. Votes will be cast in 137 subcommittees distributed at diplomatic missions worldwide. Egyptians abroad can participate by personally attending the embassy or Egyptian consulate where they are located on the designated voting days, selecting their preferred candidate, and placing the ballot in the designated box.
