U.S. President Joe Biden expressed gratitude to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar for their mediation efforts that resulted in the agreement leading to the "release of prisoners in the Gaza Strip."

In a statement released by the White House, President Biden lauded the "decisive leadership and partnership" of President al-Sisi and Emir Tamim in reaching this agreement.

Biden also appreciated the commitment made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government to support an extended ceasefire, ensuring the implementation of the "deal to release the hostages held by Hamas on October 7th" and providing additional humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of innocent Palestinian families in Gaza.

He indicated that he looks forward to speaking with the three leaders and maintaining close communication with them to ensure the full implementation of the agreement. He affirmed that the United States has closely collaborated with regional partners to exert every possible effort to release the detained American citizens resulting from those events, which began late last month.

The agreement reached today is expected to bring more American citizens back to their homeland. He pledged to continue all efforts until all of them are released.
