Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, announced that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) signed agreements with Egypt’s telecom operators, providing them with 5G license.

The total value of 5G licenses awarded to mobile companies operating in Egypt—Vodafone Egypt, Orange, and e& Egypt —reached $675 million, explained Talaat, under the same conditions as the license signed with We earlier this year.

He reiterated the government's commitment to harnessing technological advancements to benefit all citizens, emphasizing that the launch of 5G represents a significant leap forward in supporting various services, including voice communications and sectors such as smart cities, logistics, agriculture, and healthcare.

The minister underscored that the signing of the second batch of 5G licenses signifies the formal entry of 5G services into Egypt, highlighting that these services will encompass numerous medical and agricultural applications that align with Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

The deployment of 5G technology is expected to have a transformative impact on the digital landscape, positively affecting various sectors and contributing to national economic growth.

The technology will work alongside 4G, eventually replacing it over time.
