Egypt’s telecom companies invests $2B in frequency spectrums: Min.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, revealed that telecommunications companies in Egypt have invested $2 billion in new frequency spectrums over the last three years and have constructed 37,000 communication towers to enhance connectivity.  
 
Speaking at the Cairo ICT Conference and Exhibition, Talaat highlighted that Egypt now hosts 175 global companies operating 195 outsourcing centers. These centers provide jobs for 175,000 specialists and generate $3.7 billion annually by exporting digital services.  
 
The Minister emphasized the transformative role of the telecommunications sector, evolving from a service-based industry into a vital contributor to Egypt's economy. The sector now attracts foreign currency, drives investments, creates employment, and positions itself as a key player in exporting digital services such as communication, software development, and design.  
 
Advancements in Internet Infrastructure
 
Talaat stated that Egypt’s average internet speed has reached 76 Mbps, reflecting ongoing improvements in the country’s digital infrastructure.  
 
Empowering Through Training
 
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology aims to train 500,000 individuals in 2025, with 50% being women, up from 400,000 trainees this year. All training initiatives are free and designed to cater to diverse demographics and professional levels.  
 
Strategic Vision for ICT Growth
 
During the conference, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Talaat outlined the ministry’s vision. Key goals include facilitating access to digital government services, preparing youth for competitive job markets locally and globally, and fostering innovation across ICT fields.  
 
The strategy focuses on simplifying digital services, empowering citizens in the digital economy, supporting entrepreneurship and digital innovation, and ensuring robust infrastructure for all sectors.
