Egypt & EU sign € 67.7B MoU during Egyptian-European Investment Conference

Egypt signed memoranda of understandings (MoU) during the Egyptian-European Investment Conference worth € 67.7 billion, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib said during his meeting with European Union (EU) Ambassador to Cairo, Christian Berger.

 These agreements include investments in the fields of green hydrogen, electric cars, infrastructure, sustainable transportation projects, and communications and information technology.

The meeting focused on exploring collaborative projects between both parties, strategies to boost economic ties, and bolstering intra-trade and joint investments between Egypt and EU nations in the upcoming period.

The strategic partnership between the EU and Egypt worth € 7.4 billion provided by the EU to Egypt in the form of grants and loans until the end of 2027 was reviewed.

The meeting discussed the mechanism EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Egypt’s efforts to increase the competitiveness of exports in EU markets.

Egypt aims to expand green investments, and the use of hydrogen and green ammonia in industrial technologies.
