Egypt’s annual revenues increase by 59.3% in FY2023/2024

Kouchouk added that Egypt's general budget achieved a primary surplus of EGP 857 billion during FY2023/2024, compared to about EGP 164 billion in FY2022/2023.

Egypt's revenue experienced a significant annual growth of approximately 59.3%, according to a statement by Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk during his meeting with Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly.

Moreover, the budget successfully managed to reduce the total deficit by around EGP 706 billion compared to the revised budget.

 It is worth mentioning that the general budget's total deficit for the fiscal year 2023/2024 decreased to about EGP 505 billion, marking a notable improvement from the deficit of approximately EGP 610 billion in the previous fiscal year.

Kouchouk added that Egypt's general budget achieved a primary surplus of EGP 857 billion during FY2023/2024, compared to about EGP 164 billion in FY2022/2023.

Recently, Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) reported a substantial growth in revenues in the previous fiscal year (FY2023/2024), reporting a 36% rise to reach EGP 8.25 billion, helping SCZone close the FY with a surplus of EGP 5.42 billion, marking a significant 33% increase from the fiscal previous year.

Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of the SCZone, held a meeting on Thursday to highlight the authority’s performance and strategic initiatives.

SCZone's ports handled a total trading volume of 36 million tons during FY2023/2024.
