Cabinet approves Emirati AMEA Power offer to implement renewable energy projects

The approved projects include the addition of a 500-megawatt solar power capacity upon completion of the ongoing Abydos Solar Energy project, which is currently underway with a capacity of 500 megawatts.

The Cabinet has approved a proposal presented by Emirati AMEA Power, to undertake additional renewable energy projects before the summer of 2025.

The approved projects include the addition of a 500-megawatt solar power capacity upon completion of the ongoing Abydos Solar Energy project, which is currently underway with a capacity of 500 megawatts.

Additionally, the projects encompass the installation of 1,500 megawatts of combined solar and wind power capacity, which will be integrated into the national electricity grid upon completion of the additional Solar Energy Project with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts.

The Amount Wind Energy Project is currently being implemented with a capacity of 500 megawatts. Furthermore, the projects will incorporate a battery storage system.

The total planned capacity to be added through the projects undertaken by AMEA Power before the summer of 2025 will amount to 2,000 megawatts, including the battery storage system.

Earlier in July, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Mabdouly, convened a meeting with Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE, to discuss collaborative efforts in the field of new and renewable energy between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, focusing on the localization of related industries.

Madbouly emphasized that the meeting reflects the ongoing commitment of both sides to jointly address matters concerning new and renewable energy, as well as to promote the localization of various industries.
