Value of electronic payment & collection services hits EGP 2.5tn in 11 months | FinMin

The electronic payment service's growth rate for workers' salaries in the country reached 24%, with a value of EGP 299.4 billion, compared to about EGP 242.2 billion for the same period in the last fiscal year.

The value of services of the Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GePG) of the Ministry of Finance reached EGP 2.5 trillion during the period from July 2023 to May 2024, compared to EGP 2.1 trillion during the same period of the last fiscal year, According to a statement by Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait.

The electronic payment service's growth rate for workers' salaries in the country reached 24%, with a value of EGP 299.4 billion, compared to about EGP 242.2 billion for the same period in the last fiscal year.

Minister Maait added that the value of the electronic payment service for suppliers also increased by 14% to reach EGP 1.1 trillion, compared to about EGP 989.8 billion for the same period last fiscal year.

Maait indicated that customs electronic receipts witnessed a growth of 38%, with a value of EGP 284.3 billion from July 2023 to May 2024, compared to about EGP 205.8 billion for the same period of the last fiscal year.

The value of electronic tax collection transactions recorded about EGP 613.1 billion, a growth rate of 16% over the same period of the last fiscal year.

He pointed to the increase in the rates of citizens’ interest in paying government dues electronically in the banking sector by 38%, as the value of the collection service in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year reached EGP 61.4 billion, compared to EGP 44.4 billion during the last fiscal year.

 Additionally, the value of the collection service via government electronic collection machines (GPOS) increased by 31%, reaching EGP 60.8 billion, compared to EGP 46.3 billion for the same period last fiscal year.

The value of collection through the government’s online electronic payment portal during the period from July 2023 to May 2024 witnessed a growth of 78%, reaching more than EGP 1 billion, compared to EGP 600 million for the same period of the last fiscal year, Mohamed Fouad, head of the Electronic Payment and Collections Unit at the Ministry of Finance added,

Fouad confirmed that there was an expansion in Electronic collection services through collection companies integrated with the government electronic payment and collection center achieved an increase of 51%, bringing the value of its government receipts to about 1.9 billion pounds, compared to 1.2 billion pounds for the same period of the last fiscal year.
