Egypt to establish educational medical project in Shorouk City with $300M investments

The New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) and NHMC Medical Services (Egypt), a subsidiary of the English company NHMC, signed a contract to allocate land to establish an integrated urban medical and educational project in Shorouk City with investments of $300 million. The signing ceremony was in the presence of Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly.

The payment for the land will be made in US dollars or any other foreign currency listed at the official exchange rates set by the Central Bank of Egypt, according to a statement by Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Assem Al-Gazzar.

Under the framework of the contract, the land is allocated to establish an integrated urban medical and educational project in Shorouk City.  The allocation entails dedicating 65% of the land for urban activities and 35% for the establishment of educational and medical services, he added.

The project includes the establishment of the first English colleges of medicine, nursing, and physical therapy in the Middle East and Africa, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, according to a statement by Royal Representative of the English County of Cheshire and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NHMC, Nasser Michel Fouad.

Fouad added that the first educational and private hospital affiliated with the University of Buckingham in the Middle East and Africa will be built also.

The project includes the establishment of a hospital that cooperates with the international company Johnson & Johnson, as well as establishing a specialized medical area for elderly care with a capacity of 76 rooms.

Furthermore, the project features a sports academy supervised by medical professionals for individuals with special needs, an international English school, and a comprehensive urban area comprising villas, residential apartments, hotel apartments, administrative buildings for medical specialties, and commercial malls.
