In a bid to explore investment opportunities in the tourism sector, particularly in the hotel industry, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, convened a high-level meeting with the Executive Director of the JPMorgan Chase representative office in Egypt, accompanied by bank officials, international investors, and investment fund officials.
During the meeting, Minister Issa highlighted the significant strides taken by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in recent times to redefine its collaboration with the private tourism sector. He also underscored the Ministry's commitment to fostering trust, cooperation, and continuous communication with private industry stakeholders, all aimed at boosting Egypt's tourism sector.
Moreover, the minister emphasized the role the Ministry plays as a regulator, overseer, and licenser of activities within the Egyptian tourism industry. Beyond these responsibilities, the Ministry is actively engaged in formulating policies and plans to streamline operations within the sector. Additionally, it remains dedicated to ensuring that tourists visiting Egypt encounter the promised exceptional tourism experiences by enhancing the quality of services and adhering to stringent health, safety, and security standards.
During the meeting, Issa discussed the national strategy for tourism development in Egypt, expounding on its three core pillars. This comprehensive approach is expected to contribute significantly to the ambitious target of attracting 30 million tourists by 2028.
Underpinning this strategy is the objective of improving air connectivity to Egyptian tourist destinations and augmenting the number of hotel rooms across the country. Central to its implementation is the commitment to providing an enhanced tourism experience for visitors, particularly at the country's archaeological sites and museums.
