International trade during FY2022/2023 was recorded at $110.407 billion, consisting of $70.783 billion in imports and $39.624 billion in exports, according to a recent report by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Egypt’s main trading partners accounted for 61.1% of the country’s total trade volume, valued at $67.469 billion, during the previous fiscal year. The CBE wrote that trade with these 14 countries included $42.239 billion in imports and $25.229 billion in exports.

Trade volume with other countries reached $42.938 billion, amounting to $28.543 billion in imports and $14.394 billion in exports.

The top trading partner was reported as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with trade valued at $8.540 billion, $4.992 billion were imports and $3.548 billion were exports.  

Egypt’s second-largest trade partner was the USA with a trade volume of $7.606 billion, of which $4.205 billion were imports and $3.4 billion were exports.

China, with a trading volume of $7.504 billion, was ranked third by the CBE, with imports of $6.599 billion and exports of $904.8 million.

Following China was Saudi Arabia with a trading volume of $6.555 billion; $4.941 billion were imports and $1.613 billion were exports.

As the fifth largest trading partner, Turkey was reported to have a trade volume of $5.327 billion with Egypt. Import and export values were split at $2.913 billion each.

Germany was ranked sixth with a trade volume of $4.654 billion, followed by Italy with $4.308 billion, the UK with $4.226 billion, India with $3.484 billion, and Spain with $3.265 billion.

The eleventh largest trading partner was Switzerland with a trading volume of $3.236 billion, after that was Kuwait with $2.983 billion, the Netherlands with $2.952 billion, and France with a trade volume of $2.822 billion.
