Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, in an interview with CNN, described the leaked Israeli intelligence document suggesting the relocation of millions of Palestinians to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula as "a ludicrous proposal."

Speaking to CNN's Christiane Amanpour, Minister Shoukry emphasized that he has not engaged in discussions with Israel regarding the plan. He stated, "I don't think we (will engage with Israel) on such a preposterous proposal. If that were the case, the United States might also consider providing similar access to its southern borders, which we might expect in Sinai."

Minister Shoukry further explained, "Sovereign states are well defined by their borders and populations. The issue of displacement itself contradicts international humanitarian law, so I believe no one would engage in unlawful activities."

The office of the Israeli Prime Minister downplayed the significance of the document in a statement, noting, "This is a preliminary document, like dozens of such papers prepared at all political and security levels," as mentioned in the statement.

It continued, "At a later date, this is an issue that has not yet been discussed through official Israeli channels, which are currently focused on eliminating Hamas's governance and military capabilities."

Egypt has a long history of supporting peace and stability in the Middle East.

The country played a vital role in brokering the Camp David Accords in 1978, which led to the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty in 1979.

Egypt has also contributed to numerous peace initiatives and has been a key mediator in regional conflicts.
