Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said, met with Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), at the organization's headquarters in Paris.

The meeting was also attended by Alaa Youssef, Egypt's ambassador to France, and senior officials from the organization responsible for cooperation with Egypt to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two parties.

During the meeting, Dr. El-Said reviewed the five pillars of the Egyptian program, which include comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, innovation and digital transformation, governance and anti-corruption, statistics, and sustainable development.

She explained that there are around 35 projects based on these pillars, and work has already begun to implement 22 of them through the Ministries of Planning and Economic Development, Trade and Industry, Environment, Communications and Information Technology, Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Central Bank of Egypt, the General Authority for Investment, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal, and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

She noted that the Ministry of Planning has established a matrix that has been extended to all benefiting ministries and agencies to monitor the progress of each project.

El-Said emphasized that cooperation with the organization is consistent with Egypt's economic reform efforts and the national program for structural reforms.

She also highlighted the government's policy document, which aims to manage state-owned assets more efficiently, attract investment, and enhance cooperation with the private sector. Furthermore, she underscored the state's focus on supporting labor market efficiency by building capacity and enhancing vocational education.

For his part, Cormann expressed his appreciation for the relationship with Egypt, and praised the progress made in implementing the projects of the Egyptian program. He reaffirmed the organization's commitment to working with Egypt to make this program a success and commended the economic reforms being implemented by Egypt.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental economic organization with 38 member countries.
