Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has unveiled the contours of Kafr El-Sheikh Citizen Investment Plan for the year 2022-2023, as part of continuing the announcement of the plan for citizens in all provinces for the fourth consecutive year.

The purpose is to raise awareness among citizens about the orientations and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the financial year 2022-2023 and its role in achieving "Egypt's Vision 2030."

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, emphasized that community participation is the fundamental guarantee for localizing sustainable development goals, achieving balanced regional development, and bridging development gaps between different provinces, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the seventeenth goal of the global sustainable development goals, "partnerships for the goals."

El-Said added that the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development is keen to involve citizens in all stages of the development process, starting from planning, followed by monitoring and impact assessment.

The ministry always works to take rapid steps towards creating a suitable environment to enhance this participation, whether through providing data related to detailed annual sustainable development plans, issuing periodic implementation follow-up reports, or proposing priority initiatives and projects, within a comprehensive and integrated participatory approach to achieve the principle of "leaving no one behind."

Regarding the Kafr El-Sheikh Citizen Investment Plan, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the province reaches 327 projects, and that the value of public investments directed to Kafr El-Sheikh in the 2022-2023 plan amounts to EGP 4.6 billion, with a growth rate of 7% compared to the 2021-2022 plan. This is in addition to the projects directed through the Egyptian Rural Development Project "Decent Life."

As for the sectoral distribution of the public investments targeted in Kafr El-Sheikh province in the 2022-2023 plan, the report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that EGP 1.2 billion was directed to the agricultural sector, EGP 1 billion to the industrial sector, and EGP 400 million to the tourism sector, in addition to EGP 250 million for social and drinking water projects.

Egypt has been taking steps towards sustainable development with the goal of achieving a better standard of living for its citizens.

The government's focus on involving citizens in the development process through the Citizen Investment Plan is a positive step towards achieving this goal. Moreover, the Kafr El-Sheikh Citizen Investment Plan will enhance the province's economic growth and contribute to reducing poverty and unemployment rates.
