For the full fiscal year 2024/2025, Egypt is projecting a budget deficit of EGP 1.245 trillion, which represents 7.3% of the GDP.
On her part, EU’s President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X that it is good to be in Cairo for the EU-Egypt Investment Conference with President El-Sisi, adding, "In March we opened a new chapter in our partnership. Today we deliver.”
Maait stated in a ministry statement on Tuesday that the Ministry of Finance is targeting EGP 2 trillion in tax revenues for the new budget, without imposing any additional burdens on citizens or investors.
Maait indicated in a press conference on Sunday in Cairo, that the primary surplus amounted to EGP 193 billion during the same period, compared to EGP 41.8 billion a year ago.
President El-Sisi gave directives to continue developing the performance and improving the efficiency of project implementation to improve the indicators of the general budget and reduce the overall budget deficit.
