Diaa Rashwan, the head of the State Information Service, has indicated that the truce brokered between Hamas and Israel with the mediation of Egypt and Qatar may see an extension of two additional days.

During this prolonged ceasefire, there is a provision for the daily release of 10 detainees in Gaza, focusing on women and children. In reciprocation, 30 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails would be released, bringing the total exchanges during the two-day extension to 20 Israelis and 60 Palestinians.

Rashwan clarified that alongside the detainee releases, the ceasefire covering the entire Gaza Strip would persist. Furthermore, the entry of medical, food, and fuel aid, as well as the prohibition of Israeli flights over Gaza, would continue throughout the extension.

The imminent exchange is set to involve 11 Israeli detainees in Gaza, with negotiations underway for the release of 33 Palestinians from the Israeli side.

Reports from Israeli media on Monday suggested a growing inclination within Israel to extend the truce agreement. The Israeli Channel 12 reported that a War Council in Tel Aviv is expected to convene for consultations on this matter. Israeli sources cited a tendency to accept an extension after discussions with regional and international parties.

Meanwhile, Hamas declared on Sunday its intent to pursue an extension of the truce in Gaza through serious discussions and negotiations. Their objective is to secure an increase in the number of detainees released, adhering to the terms of the humanitarian truce agreement reached with Israel.

The "humanitarian truce," facilitated through Egyptian-Qatari mediation between Hamas and Israel, is currently slated to conclude on Tuesday morning.
