Egypt’s core inflation rates stands at 1% in September 2024 | CBE

Annually, core inflation stood at 25.0% in September 2024, slightly down from 25.1% in August 2024.

The core consumer price index showed a monthly change of 1% in September 2024, compared to 1.1% in September 2023 and 0.9% in August 2024, according to data prepared by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Annually, core inflation stood at 25.0% in September 2024, slightly down from 25.1% in August 2024.

According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), the monthly change in the urban consumer price index recorded 2.1% in September 2024, compared to 2.0% in September 2023 and 2.1% in August 2024.

 On a yearly basis, the urban inflation rate reached 26.4% in September 2024, up from 26.2% in August 2024.

In October, the CAPMAS reported that Egypt’s general consumer price index reached 236.5 points during September 2024, recording a monthly increase of 2.3% during August 2024.

Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate recorded 26.0% during September 2024, compared to 40.3% for the same month of the previous year, according to CAPMAS’s report.

Earlier in August, the CBE reported that Annual core inflation also slowed to 24.4% in July from June’s 26.6%, reaching its lowest level since December 2022, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline.

The CBE noted that monthly core inflation was recorded at negative 0.5% in July compared to 1.3% in the same month last year.
