Egypt’s general consumer price index reached 236.5 points during September 2024, recording a monthly increase of 2.3% during August 2024, according to the latest data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The report attributed this to an increase in the prices of the cereals and bread group by 0.7%, the meat and poultry group by 0.7%, the fish and seafood group by 1.7%, the dairy, cheese and eggs group by 2.8%, the fruit group by 1.7%, and the vegetables group by 12.4%. , Sugar and sugary foods group by 0.2%, Coffee, tea and cocoa group by 0.9%, Smoke group by 0.2%, Fabrics group by 1.1%, Ready-made clothing group by 0.8%, Shoes group by 0.3%.

The transportation sector recorded a 30.2% increase, driven by a 24.2% rise in vehicle purchase costs, a 29.4% increase in private transport expenses, and a 31.8% rise in transport service costs.
The telecommunications sector saw a 12.6% increase, attributed to a 54.3% rise in postal service costs, a 28.3% increase in phone and fax equipment prices, and an 11.4% rise in phone and fax service costs.
