El-Naggar added that Egyptian imports during last July amounted to about $6.5 billion, compared to $6.2 billion during July 2023, an increase of 4%.
Egypt’s merchandise exports recorded more than $24 billion during the first 7 months of 2024, according to Chairman of the General organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), Essam El-Naggar.
Egypt’s non-petroleum merchandise exports increased last July by $325 million to reach about $3.1 billion, compared to $2.8 billion during the same month in 2023, a growth rate of 12%.
El-Naggar added that Egyptian imports during last July amounted to about $6.5 billion, compared to $6.2 billion during July 2023, an increase of 4%.
Earlier in August, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated that Egypt saw a 10.3% reduction in its trade deficit In May, to record $3.5 billion down from $3.9 billion during the same period in 2023.
Exports in May increased by 0.4%, to reach $3.81 billion compared to $3.79 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The Increase in exports is due to the growth in exports of some commodities, including fresh fruits by 17.4%, ready-made clothing by 5.5%, and pastries and food preparations by 32.2%.
