Egypt's food industry exports reach $3.2B during H1 of 2024 | IDSC

The European Union and Arab countries were among the top importers of Egyptian food products, with $1.6 billion and $701 million in imports, respectively.

Egypt's food industry exports reached $3.2 billion in the first half (1H) of 2024, marking a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to data released by the cabinet's Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC).

The top markets receiving Egypt's food industry exports were Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Palestine, and the USA. These markets recorded growth rates of 15%, 28%, 42%, and 28%, respectively.

The leading export commodities were:

1. Soft drink concentrates: Valued at $309 million, with a 10% growth rate.

2. Flour and starch: Amounting to $246 million, with a 39% growth rate.

3. Frozen strawberries: Totaling $248 million, with a 24% growth rate.

4. Sugar: Valued at $194 million.

The European Union and Arab countries were among the top importers of Egyptian food products, with $1.6 billion and $701 million in imports, respectively.

Earlier in July, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that Egypt’s trade deficit narrowed in April 2024, decreasing by 2.5% to hit $2.68 billion compared to $2.75 billion during April 2023.

According to its monthly bulletin, Egyptian exports saw a slight uptick in April, going up by 0.8% to reach $3.29 billion compared to $3.26 billion recorded in April 2023.
