Egypt’s new government unveils ambitious program focused on economic growth

The program, rooted in the national dialogue sessions, prioritizes economic growth, tackling inflation, and enhancing Egypt’s international standing.

  Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, presented the new government’s program to the House of Representatives, outlining a comprehensive plan aimed at addressing key challenges and propelling Egypt towards its Vision 2030 goals.

The program, rooted in the national dialogue sessions, prioritizes economic growth, tackling inflation, and enhancing Egypt’s international standing.

Economic Growth and Investment

The government aims to achieve a 4.2% growth rate in the first year, with a focus on attracting new investments and supporting economic advancement.

 A key strategy involves increasing the export growth rate by 15%, aiming to transform Egypt into a global logistics and trade center.

 The program also emphasizes restructuring economic entities and continuing the IPO program.

Addressing Inflation and Power Outages

Recognizing the pressing issue of rising prices and inflation, the new government has pledged to prioritize their reduction.

 Furthermore, they aim to eliminate power outages within the first six months of their program.

Infrastructure and Housing

The government plans to build 500,000 alternative housing units for unplanned areas, addressing housing needs and improving living conditions.  They also intend to enhance Egypt’s capabilities in the communications and information technology sector.

Technological Advancement and Green Initiatives

The government aims to deepen specialized technological industries, focusing on manufacturing mobile phones, smart tablets, and electric cars. 

They will establish centers of excellence for international companies and incubate emerging businesses. 

Furthermore, they envision developing Egypt into a global center for green hydrogen production by 2030, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.

International Partnerships and Regional Cooperation

The Cabinet seeks to maximize international partnerships, strengthening Egypt’s position on the global stage.

 The government is also keen on strengthening Egyptian-Arab relations, fostering regional cooperation.

Digital Transformation and Sectors Growth

The program emphasizes raising government performance through digital transformation across all sectors.  The government aims to increase the share of the agricultural, industrial, and technology sectors, promoting diversification and economic resilience.

Water Security and Nile Basin Cooperation

The Cabinet is committed to achieving Egypt’s water security by enhancing cooperation with Nile Basin and Horn of Africa countries, ensuring sustainable water resource management.
