Egypt’s unemployment rate declines to 6.7% during Q1 of 2024 | CAPMAS

Egypt’s unemployment rate decreased to 6.7% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, down by 0.2% from the previous quarter, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

During Q1 of 2024, the estimated size of the labor force was 31,397 million individuals, compared to 31,101 million individuals during the previous quarter, an increase of 1.0%.

 The urban labor force reached 13,758 million individuals, while it reached 17,639 million individuals in the countryside.

As for the gender level, the size of the labor force reached 25,537 million for males, while for females it reached 5,860 million individuals.

The number of unemployed people was recorded at 2,104 million in the current quarter, compared to 2,159 million unemployed people from the previous quarter, a 2.5% decrease.

The number of employed people reached 29,293 million individuals, while it was 28,942 million individuals in the previous quarter, an increase of 1.2%.

The number of employed people in urban areas reached 12,464 million employed people, while the number of employed people in rural areas reached 16,829 million employed people.
