The Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, stated that the building materials sector exports increased by about 28% in 2023.

This came during his meeting with Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, members of Chamber of Building Materials Industries (CBMI) and Export Council Building Materials (ECBM).

The purpose of this meeting is to boost the sector's exports in the coming period, Madbouly added.

Minister Madbouly also pointed out that today’s meeting aims to discuss their visions and proposals, with the goal of achieving specific targets for each export council.

During the meeting, there were several suggestions presented to strengthen industries connected to this sector, Mohamed El-Homsani, official spokesman for the Cabinet stated.

These suggestions focused on ways to support the cement industry, which plays a crucial role in the construction sector. The aim was to help the cement industry increase its exports and promote competition in global markets.

The meeting also included a discussion of the shift towards using alternative fuels to reduce carbon emissions, in addition to proposals to strengthen the mining sector.
