Egypt's agricultural exports reached $1.5 billion, an increase of $300 million during the first quarter of 2024
Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, El Sayed El Quseir, announced that Egypt's agricultural exports exceeded 2.2 million tons and reached $1.5 billion.
El Quseir pointed out that despite the regional and global conditions that affect supply chains and the Egyptian state stopping the export of some agricultural products to support the local market, Egyptian agricultural exports achieved an increase over the same period of the previous year of $300 million
The Minister of Agriculture added that what is being exported is the surplus over the needs of the local market and the goods and products in which the Egyptian state has a competitive advantage, such as citrus fruits, strawberries, potatoes, and other products, and that the export aims to increase the economic return and support the Egyptian farmer and producer, as a result of finding a mechanism to market the surplus of its production to preserve To balance prices and achieve an amount of return that achieves appropriate profitability and ensures sustainability.
El Quseir pointed out that export is considered one of the most important sources of foreign currency, as total exports of fresh and manufactured agricultural produce last year amounted to about 9 billion dollars.
