The Egyptian state has adopted a new approach to achieve social justice, implementing a comprehensive set of social policies to support and protect the most vulnerable groups and enhance human security, alongside economic reforms.
Addressing social protection from a holistic perspective, the government has expanded social safety nets and launched presidential initiatives to improve living standards in Egyptian villages.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi directed the government to implement the largest urgent social protection package worth 180 billion EGP starting from March 1, 2024.
1. Allocation of 6 billion EGP to employ 120,000 members of medical professions, teachers, and employees in other administrative bodies.
2. Additional 15 billion EGP for doctors, nurses, teachers, and university faculty members.
3. 8.1 billion EGP to approve an additional increase in salaries for pre-university education teachers ranging from 325 to 475 EGP.
4. 1.6 billion EGP to approve an additional increase for university faculty members and their assistants in universities, institutes, and research centers.
5. 4.5 billion EGP to approve an additional increase for medical professionals and nursing associations ranging from 250 to 300 EGP in risk allowances for medical professions and an increase of nearly 100% in night shift and accommodation allowances.
