The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2023) commenced in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.

The fair is co-organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the African Union (AU), and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Secretariat. It is scheduled to run from the 9th to the 15th of November, 2023, under the theme “The AfCFTA Marketplace.”

The event serves as a conduit for businesses to access an integrated African market of over 1.3 billion individuals and a GDP exceeding $3.5 trillion, established under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

The fair is expected to witness the finalization of trade and investment deals worth $43 billion, with participation from 75 countries, 1600 business exhibitors, entrepreneurs, investors, financiers, and an estimated 35,000 buyers and visitors.

The previous iterations of the fair, IATF 2018 in Cairo and IATF 2021 in Durban, South Africa, also witnessed a substantial influx of participants and significant deal-making, paving the way for new business development opportunities.
