Eni to invest $7.7B in Egypt’s energy sector

This comes in line with the Italian energy company’s commitment to boosting its presence and projects in Egypt.

Eni and its partners to inject new investments into Egypt over the coming four years, at a value of $7.7 billion. This came during a meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Chief Executive Officer of Eni, Claudio Descalzi. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, and senior Eni officials.

This comes in line with the Italian energy company’s commitment to boosting its presence and projects in Egypt. The Presidency Spokesman, Ahmad Fahmy, said that during the meeting El-Sisi stated that he values the outstanding Egyptian-Italian relations as well as the long-standing partnership with Eni. 

Descalzi also reviewed the company’s upcoming search and exploration plans as well as development operations activities that will enable Eni to maintain high production rates from the fields.  

President El-Sisi looked forward to further advancing the cooperation between Egypt and Eni in the areas of search, exploration, development, and production, with the aim of leveraging Egypt’s resources in the energy sector and enhancing the huge successes, which have been achieved in this regard over the past few years.

Eni’s CEO highlighted Egypt’s great importance as one of the major markets for Eni’s activities and business worldwide, given the promising opportunities the energy sector in Egypt enjoys, particularly with the President’s personal interest in upgrading this vital sector and maximizing its return to Egypt.
