Egypt and Serbia engage in free trade agreement negotiations

During 2022, the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Serbia reached $113.59 million, a significant rise from the approximately $79.74 million recorded in 2021.

Egypt and Serbia are engaged in discussions to explore the feasibility of establishing a free trade agreement between the two nations, a project that was announced during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Serbia in 2022, as stated by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Wednesday.
 
Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, expressed that finalizing this agreement would lead to an increase in trade exchange and joint investments between the two countries in the future.
 
During 2022, the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Serbia reached $113.59 million, a significant rise from the approximately $79.74 million recorded in 2021.
 
Key items of trade between the two countries include fertilizers, phosphates, vegetables, fruits, plastics, tobacco, machinery, and electrical appliances.
 
Serbian Minister of Internal and External Trade, Tomislav Momic, emphasized the commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Egypt, recognizing it as a pivotal country in the Middle East and Africa.
 
He also highlighted the growing momentum of official visits from Serbian officials to Cairo, demonstrating the Serbian government's keenness to deepen bilateral relations with Egypt.
 
The Serbian minister extended an invitation to Egyptian companies to participate in ongoing projects in Serbia, particularly in the development of the country's infrastructure. These initiatives aim to enhance the logistics transport system between Serbia and the primary ports of neighboring nations.
