The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects announced the approval of the General Secretariat of the Arab League (Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation) to include the initiative in the agenda of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region.
The initiative invites investors and financial institutions to study and finance the winning projects of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects during the thirteenth meeting of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Ambassador Hisham Badr, the General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, stated that the welcoming of the General Secretariat of the Arab League (Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation) to include the initiative in the agenda of the Arab Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in the Arab region reflects the Arab League's interest in the initiative and its smart and practical solutions to address climate change risks and environmental issues.
Ambassador Hisham Badr pointed out the key outcomes of the meeting held by the initiative at the headquarters of the Arab League in the presence of representatives from Arab countries, chaired by Minister Plenipotentiary Nada El-Agez, Director of the Department of Sustainable Development and International Cooperation at the Arab League, to present the initiative as a successful model to be followed by Arab countries.
Egypt also expressed its readiness to transfer its successful experience and provide technical support to Arab countries interested in implementing this pioneering model in their own countries.
The invitation was also extended to investors and financial institutions to study and finance the winning projects of the initiative to ensure their continuity in providing smart and practical solutions to address climate change risks.
Badr affirmed that such interest from the Arab League in the outcomes of the initiative indicates its success in achieving its goals.
He explained that in its second phase, the initiative seeks to maximize the benefit from the results of the first phase by presenting new solutions to climate change issues. These solutions will be showcased at the COP28 climate conference in the United Arab Emirates.
Badr also emphasized the initiative's commitment to transferring its experience to Arab countries, as it is a globally unprecedented initiative implemented in all governorates of Egypt with the participation of various sectors.
He noted that the initiative has received international acclaim from international institutions. One of the most important achievements of the initiative is the transition from local to national and then to global scale by reaching 100 million Egyptians.
Additionally, the initiative has established a database for the smart green projects that participated in the first phase, with the ability to connect them with funders and investors.
It is worth mentioning that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects participated in the Sustainability and Government Business Forum organized by the Arab League in Cairo in June, with the participation of Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Director-General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, as well as the Minister of State for Government Development and Future of the UAE, Ohoud Al-Roumi, and representatives of educational and commercial institutions.
