Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry, Engineer Ahmed Samir, opened the sixth edition of the "Egypt Projects" exhibition for construction materials and equipment and the "Windorex" exhibition for glass and aluminum, which are being held from May 6th to 8th at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.
Samir stated that the construction materials and equipment sector is one of the most important productive sectors for exports in the national economy, with competitive advantages and great export opportunities to access a large number of regional and global markets.
He added that the sector contributes to meeting the needs of the local market, as well as the country's needs for the construction of major national projects.
Egypt's hosting of these two important exhibitions reflects the importance of the Egyptian market as a regional hub for the manufacture and export of construction materials in the Middle East and Africa.
The exhibitions are being held on an area of 20,000 square meters with the participation of 400 exhibitors from 15 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, China, India, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Greece.
Samir explained that the sector's exports reached approximately $6.982 billion during the past year, compared to $6.516 billion during 2021, achieving an increase of 7.1%. He pointed out that the construction materials industry is one of the strategic industries in the Egyptian economy, as Egypt is one of the largest producers of building materials and equipment in the Middle East.
Samir also highlighted the cooperation and coordination between the Export Council for Building Materials and Thermal Insulation, the Exhibition Authority, and the Commercial Representation Apparatus to host trade missions from 11 Arab and African countries to take advantage of the available commercial opportunities and meet their needs for various building materials products from countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Djibouti, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Iraq.
The exhibitions feature the participation of a large number of companies covering all sectors of construction materials and equipment, including marble, granite, cement, and ceramics.
Egypt has been making strides in its efforts to attract foreign investments and promote its economic potential.
The country has been implementing economic reforms that aim to create a more favorable business environment, such as liberalizing the exchange rate, reducing subsidies, and implementing structural reforms. As a result, Egypt's economy has shown resilience and has been growing despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
